I know this music isn't from a video game, but I wouldn't even be suggesting it if it wasn't composed by Christopher Tin, the composer of Baba Yetu from Civilization IV, which so many people seem to love when they hear it at VGL. It would be absolutely amazing to hear Madokara Mieru played at Video Games Live -- even if the vocals have to be prerecorded. Might work best as maybe a pre-intermission song, or a second or third "encore" song.
He's going to be releasing it on his own album soon, but it has already been released by Corner Stone Cues, a production / movie trailer music company that makes public releases of their music regularly, on their latest album called Eton Path. Here's a
short clip about a minute into this song (so as to minimize any copyright infringement). A sample does not truly do it justice, so if you're a fan of the Civilization IV music, I highly suggest you spend the $0.99 and buy and enjoy this track, at least. The rest of the album is great, too, and a total steal at $8.99, just like all 4 of their albums, which I highly recommend anyone who enjoys this genre check out, too.
Eton Path, and thus
Madokara Mieru, are available on
Amazon and iTunes (with most songs, including this one, available as Choir/Vocal and Instrumental versions).
The lyrics are from a series of 5 Japanese haiku, and are available along with a translation on Christopher Tin's blog post about this song.

So in essence, it's a song about the cycle of life.

Note that Corner Stone Cues has replaced the singer from his description for Autumn with Male & Female choir, and Winter with just Male Choir. Not sure how it's done on his album's version, as it's not out yet.
