For me at least, it blew the pants off of VGL. Bigger orchestra. No backing tracks. Sharp screen. And most of all, non-stop Zelda!!!

They had nearly all of my favorites. Great Fairy's Fountain. Lost Woods. Sheik's Theme. Palace from Zelda II. Hyrule Castle from LTTP. Hyrule Field from Twilight Princess. And a Majora's Mask medley! (Clock Town!!!)

The arrangements were a mixed bag. Some sounded just like the original tracks, some took a lot of liberties. But everything sounded very good.

All that said, it WAS more expensive than VGL, and it doesn't travel everywhere like VGL. And if you don't like Zelda music, well...

Only two minor complaints. They should have had a better variety of souvenirs (just one kind of t-shirt and one kind of poster - they would've totally cleaned up on hats & soundtrack albums if they had stocked them), and a few great tracks were missing (Windmill, Stone Tower Temple, Deku Palace, plus a general lack of battle themes).

If you like this kind of stuff, SEE IT!!!!!!
I have my tickets for the NYC Zelda concert in November (I would have also loved to go to VGL but the nearest show is in NJ the day after the Zelda concert, and it's a weekday). I'm definitely looking forward to it

Oh no! Double post... we'll just forget I'm doing this....

Anyhow, I went to the NYC Zelda concert last night, and I really enjoyed it! I expected some things like OoT, Wind Waker, and Twilight Princess, but there were a few surprises as well. I didn't really expect Ballad of the Wind Fish from Link's Awakening (although I would REALLY love a full medley from that game including other pieces like Tal Tal Heights and the music that plays when you first end up on Koholint Island and you're looking for the weapons). I also wasn't expecting a full Majora's Mask medley (forgot that TurboChickenMan mentioned one!). They also played Gerudo Valley (the version that's on the CD that came with Skyward Sword), which is a pretty interesting take on the piece, even though I kind of miss the guitars.

And actually, they were playing some Deku Palace (from MM) during the intermission last night, and I think that the windmill music was done as part of the Song of Storms segment from one of the other movements.

I do think that they can take some tips on audience interaction from VGL though... I understand that it's not the sort of "rock concert" setting that VGL is, and isn't supposed to have the same level of audience interaction, but the host always seemed a bit awkward when he came onstage. I think the awesome conductor was more entertaining as a host!
