You know on VGL's homepage (http://www.videogameslive.com/index.php?s=home) you can view that trailer?

Well I was about to reply to the PM, but okay.
The vocal track that opens most of the VGL trailers (including that one) is something I can't place. Scouring the soundtracks I have at my disposal, and eliminating most of them by knowing them by heart or for stylistic reasons (it's not going to be Sonic the Hedgehog is it?) I've determined that it's not Advent Rising. My guess is it's either Myst III: Exile or something from a Warcraft game, but I don't have any of those soundtracks to reference. Yet.

Someone named Robin on another thread said
"In the VGL San Jose trailer 2006, the starting song, is from 'Beyond Good & Evil' is called 'Dancing with Domz' but the one I found is called 'Fight Part 1 Slow'. 'Fight Part 1' is a continuation of that (not heard in trailer), good song. Composed by Christophe Heral."
My best guess is that the song you're looking for is a one of those two songs.
Just listen to 0:0:32 on the main page trailer, and 0:0:33 on the vglsanjose trailer. They both have the same style and key.

Just looked through the soundtrack for Beyond Good and Evil (I like being off for break), but didn't find it, so I'm probably on the wrong track.

Out of the three songs in the trailer, I can only immediately place the last song played: Main Theme - Jack Wall (Myst III: Exile).
For the other two, I'm not sure (is there really no Advent Rising in there? I thought there would be...).

(is there really no Advent Rising in there? I thought there would be...).
Hearing the female vocal solo my first instinct was that, but I went through the whole score, and no results. The track "Muse" is similar in style, but is mixed completely differently and shares no melodic phrases with the trailer opener.

I think some of the trailers and songs got mixed up in some of the answers.
The San Jose trailer does use the Beyond Good & Evil song (Christoph Heral) and then goes into Tom Salta's Ghost Recon track.
The Main trailer from the Hollywood Bowl uses mostly Jack's music from Myst III: Exile but starts off with that solo woman singing...
That is the track that everyone is curious about.
It was written by Tim Larkin and I believe it is from Myst: URU or possible Myst II: Riven. If I was forced to guess... I believe it's URU. We also play that track in our concert... But that was one of the first pieces we put together over 4 years ago and I've forgotten the exact game.
I bet Jack might know.... Jack?

It's from Uru - I'm not sure of the actual name of the song, but it's played in the Kadish Gallery, in the city of D'ni. Best music in the game.

If it's Tim Larkin, it couldn't be Riven. As far as I know, the progression of composers goes like this:
Robyn Miller - MYST and Riven
Jack Wall - Exile and Revelation
Tim Larkin - URU and End of Ages

Yeah, you don't know anything about any Cheesy Awards at all...

What? Cheesy Awards?
Come to think of it, that abstract sculpture does look somewhat like a wedge of swiss cheese.
I, er, found it.
[EDIT: Just to clarify, I did make it, but I'm keeping this pretense that I know nothing of the Cheesy Awards for comic effect. In actual fact I probably wont ever resurrect the competition that was drawing upwards of a phenominal 4 votes a round. But there's no way YOU would know. Ho ho ho oh no. You'll just go on believing that I will. This will just become a running joke that only about six of us get and only I will find funny.]

Oh, SO THAT'S WHERE IT CAME FROM...
blatant plagarism... >_>
You know, if you continue this, I believe something's happening behind the scenes here...
(Sorry for the off topic post :))
