The Chrono games certainly have some marvellous music though.

I know how hard it can be to get licensing to perform the music, but Chrono Trigger/Cross is certainly worth the effort, I think. Mitsuda's interpretations of the environments and tension throughout the game was simply stunning!

Any Chrono Trigger song, specially the main theme, would be an amazing addition to the concert! CT is one of the most famous and loved old-school RPGs here in Brazil. And, for me, its still the best.

Chrono Trigger music is what got me into video game music in the first place. Absolute classic, and most of it still holds up even in today's world. I can listen to Corridors of Time right after Shadow of the Collossus, and enjoy both just as much. It would be a great addition to the show.

Lufia wouldn't be amiss, either. Last Duel for the win.

Don't know if any of the previous contributors of the thread know this or not, but there is a Chrono-Trigger/Cross medley in the VGL arsenal as of (at least) Sept 25th, 2009 (Heard it at Augusta, GA).
Unfortunately, as we haven't heard anything on a second CD, I guess the only way you can hear it is by going to the concerts.

I was in Brazil's concert yesterday for the first time. That was a GREAT show, but I was really disapointed at the false promise of playing Chrono Trigger. Tommy anounced it was the first most requested song and yet they just played a very short medley with little pieces of three or so songs.
I thought I was going to see Chrono Trigger's main theme orchestrated, something I always wanted to see live, but I came out totally disapointed.
They just played Chrono Cross at the end, and I was told they played the same song last year.
For God's sake, give me something to remember forever and play Chrono Trigger's main theme next year.

False promise? We played 3 songs from Chrono Trigger. I'm not sure I understand how that is a false promise. Also, we had never played any Chrono in Brazil before so we definitely didn't play the "same song as last year". Sorry you were a little disappointed, hopefully you enjoyed the rest of the show.

Can't say much about the show in Rio, but the one in Sao Paulo actually had CT musics on it.There were no false promise.Ok, it wasn't the so popular and almost only known Chrono Trigger's main theme, but the musics they played was also excellent.

Hope next year we have more, but with another musics from Chrono Trigger's OST.Like Ayla's Theme, or the amazing Magic Kingdom Theme, with perhaps Robo's Theme to end it.Or any other musics in whatever order you like, any music from Chrono will surely rocks anyway.

I was on 2008 show and on 2009 show in Rio and there´s no way it was the same song since it was the first time ever playing Chrono Cross.

Also there was no false promisse, they said they would play Chrono Trigger and they did it!

Okay, I went too far as to call it a "false promise" and I am sorry, but I really wanted to hear the main theme. And that's not to say the show wasn't good, I was in total awe during the whole experience and will come back every year.

That was surely unnecessary Mateus, you should have just asked for CT main theme for next year, but to insult the beautiful medley which was played is absurd.

Man he played the TWO BEST SONGS of chrono trigger, and played the best song of Chrono Cross.
I was surprised of how they nailed the best best songs of chrono trigger.
I think it was better then I expected. To improve the show, they need only to show images of Frog behind them when they play Chrono Trigger.

Possible, though unlikely as the concert segments rarely change once it has been created. The only exception to that rule has been the Halo segment with each of the new games, and the two encore segments which were given a heavier guitar line. Its unlikely that the CT/CC segment will be completely rewritten on the whim of a few fans unhappy with the song choices.

Its unfortunate, because if VGL could accommodate to absolutely everyone at all times it probably would! Unfortunately that's an impossible goal, and instead it will do its best to please as many people as it can. Ultimately that means there will be people who aren't happy with the show and although they can do their best to try and please those people, sometimes its just not possible.

Besides, I haven't actually heard the new Chrono Trigger/Cross segment live yet and I'd be horrified to discover that they'd changed it before I had a chance to actually hear it properly. For every argument for, there is an argument against. How to you choose who to please?

I haven't been to a concert yet, and I hope I get the chance someday. I would love to hear Chrono Trigger - Cross. I played them because they reminded me so much of the Secret of Mana music, which I also love. Are they both done by the same people?

I've heard that before. It seems to be typical of several PS1 titles produced around 1999-2000. FF8 is another one that gets that statement a lot; no matter your opinion on the game, Liberi Fatali and the opening movie are pretty much universally enjoyed, just like with CC and Scars Left by Time.

Yeah, I also really love "Scars of Time" from CC after hearing it at VGL for the first time, along with the other CT songs in the medley, although I've never played the game before. Actually, one of the reasons I got into FF games (well besides the first one and the GBA remake) about two years ago was because I had heard some music from it and as a result, learned more about the games and eventually bought and played them.

Yeah, I've finished most of the ones I have except X-2, which I've actually generally come to like, and VIII, because no matter how hard I try I can't seem to "get" the battle system (I really just have to sit down one day and really go over it). I've never even played VII (gasp!) except for a few minutes at a friend's house, but I'm pretty knowledgeable about a lot of its story from watching videos online, and I've also watched large portions of AC and CC. Although I've had the NES FF1 for a very long time and bought the Dawn of Souls remake, I developed new interest in the series probably about two years ago when I heard some of the music.

Last year was the first time I went to see the VGL concert... I must say I regret not going to all the previous shows. Last year "number one most requested songs" were from Chrono Trigger and Cross... although all songs from these games are amazing, sadly there was no Chrono Trigger's main theme.

I suggest and greatly hope to see Chrono Trigger's main theme on VGL in Rio this year...

Other than this, if you're planning on going with more than a couple of songs from these games, I'd suggest To Far Away Times or the Battle against Magus, as someone asked some posts before.

I'm looking forward for a great time this year on VGL!! o/

I'm totally sure there wouldn't be just a few fans that would love to have Chrono Trigger's main theme included. We all love the ones you picked, I'm sure no one is unhappy with what you put together for the CT/CC segment; even if they say so it's probably because they feel it could be even greater. The medley was greatly done and amazingly beautiful. I believe there's no way to represent something musical better than with its opening theme... and that's what everyone is asking and waiting for. I'm no musician and so, I wouldn't know how hard it would be to do that, and I'm sorry if this is an absurd, but you could just extend the medley and add this song to it. It may be asking too much, but please, make CT's main theme part of the show!! PLEASE, MAKE THIS EXCEPTION!!

this is by far my favorite medley they play at the show each year but i only wish that they'd beef up the sound the flutes make a bit. it seems like all the other instruments drowned out the flutes and that, to me, is the core of those particular music, especially scars of time

Chrono Trigger is my favorite game of all time... and the soundtrack is one of the most amazing that i ever hear!!!

I married one month ago, and one of the songs that I choose do play in the cerimony was "Too Far Away Times", the ending theme from Chrono Trigger!! This is a very beautiful music, and it's very special to me, so this is the number one song that I want to hear in a Video Games Live show, here in São Paulo... :)
