Well, tonight I get back home from my 4th concert of VGL and as always I was treated to a night of excitement and awesomeness. Tommy is a great entertainer and never fails to get the crowd roused up and ready to cheer. The new additions like the vocalist/flute player Laura BLEW me away and the inclusion of the Chrono series was a long time coming. Absolutely astounding as usual. The inclusion of fully sounded cutscenes (like the Assassin's Creed 2 piece) was very well done, and the MGS3 Snake Eater segment was amazing!
Laura has such a beautiful voice, and her link flute routine was top notch. She was by far one of the best additions. The little interludes like game mashups were wonderful, and funny - Scorpion vs Donkey Kong now has a place in my heart.
The low points for me this time aorund was the fact that God of War is still in - it's a bit over-done now, it's been in since 2006, maybe time for a retire? The concert definitely needs a new opener - although I love it, again, it needs to be updated with some different games and a different sound.
My biggest complaint though?
The game that was made in Canada that recieved more game of the year awards than I can count - Mass Effect 2 - was nowhere to be seen/heard! Four VGL's and I have yet to hear Mass Effect music! Maybe number 5 I'll get lucky?
Anyhoo - once again, you guys rocked our worlds and all 9 of the party I brought along want to see it next year. Six of them were newbies!
Cheers,
Tal
PS: MASS EFFECT NEXT TIME.
