Hi Everyone,
I'm new here but I am hoping to find like-minded people that will help me with this idea.
My ambition is to see videogame music recognised in the Classic FM Hall of Fame.
Classic FM is a UK radio station that hosts a Hall of Fame every year. This HoF is created by public votes collected over a number of weeks in the new year and finally presented over the Easter weekend. Listeners have the opportunity to nominate three composers accompanied by a piece of music.
However, in all the years this has been running I have yet to see any hint of a videogame composer feature. Worse than this, I have never heard the station play a piece of music composed for the medium of videogames, despite the fact that movie soundtracks feature frequently on the station.
Quite why videogames are marginilised I do not know but I am keen to right this wrong and see a videogame composer propelled into this year's Hall of Fame. Therefore I come to you and ask you to support my ambition to get Russell Brower into the Hall of Fame. It won't cost you anything but a few moments of your time.
Here's what you need to do:
1) Head to http://www.classicfmhalloffame.co.uk/
2) Look for the box at the bottom of this page that asks you to 'Confirm your votes'
3) Click on the grey + so that you can add your choice manually
4) Then enter the name of the composer 'Russell Brower' and 'Name of piece' as 'Wrath of the Lich King (Main title)'
That's it!
Well, you do need to think of two more composers and pieces of music but I shall leave that up to you. If you need some inspiration why not take a look at http://en.wikipedia...._game_musicians and support another videogame composer you admire.
For example I am choosing to support Gerard K Marino and his God of War 2 title music.
I appreciate that not everyone will necessarily want to back Russell Brower (though personally I think his contributions to WoW are awesome) but there are 3 boxes for you to work with and all I ask is that you use him for one of them. Hopefully with enough combined effort his name will rise up through the ranks.
If this takes off then we may finally see videogame music given the recognition it deserves in the world of classical music. I hope you guys will get behind the cause!! Thanks for reading
Mike Emeny.
