Was there a game that influenced you to buy a console? What game was it?
Tekken 2 for Playstation and Halo for Xbox.

Tekken 2 for Playstation and Halo for Xbox.
Super Mario 64 for Nintendo 64, Sonic Adventure for Dreamcast, Halo 3 for XBox 360, NiGHTS for Sega Saturn (and a very decent price, including the console, Sonic JAM and 2 controllers, about £20).

I got my PS1 because my cousin bought a PS2 so I inherited it after that, though I quickly acquired FF8 following that, and the presence of Crash Bandicoot with it probably helped the matter.
FFX for PS2, FF13 for PS3, LoZ Links Awakening for GB, GB Pocket because the original phat GB I received didn't work, Professor Layton/FF3/FF4/Pokemon for DS, LoZ Twilight Princess for Wii.

Hmm... FFIX for the Playstation, FFX for the PS2, Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii, and the Uncharted series/FFXIII for my PS3.

Well, I think that N64 was the first console that I specifically requested, and I believe I wanted it for Pokemon Snap ("Wow!! Pokemon IN 3D!!") but I also just kind of wanted it in general. Although the system I got that Christmas came with DK64 and an expansion pack so that was an added bonus.
I wanted Gamecube for Super Smash Bros. Melee and Pokemon Colosseum (still like Stadium MUCH better though).
I guess I wanted Wii for Twilight Princess, but I mainly just really wanted the system. If I didn't want to buy a Wii, I could have gotten TP for Gamecube.
GBASP (never had an original GBA): Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire
Nintendo DS lite (again, never had the original): Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
Yeah, I guess Pokemon have typically been my "Ok, I'll buy the system already..." games :p, but I'll buy a 3DS even though Pokemon Black and White are for DS.
Before N64, systems and games were usually bought for me and I rarely had requests for games (since at the time I didn't really know anything about what games were available unless I happened to be at the store and saw the games on shelves). Luckily my family made good choices of games to buy :D

Pokémon Stadium came first :p

I seem to remember getting a GBA entirely for Minish Cap. It was a pretty good Zelda game in the end too.
In general though I don't tend to buy systems unless there's already a good volume of stuff (three or four games usually, though it's not like I set this rule in stone) available or soon to be available on them that I'm really interested in.

Nope, Snap was first :D
Pokemon Snap:
-March 21, 1999
-NA June 30, 1999
-PAL September 15, 1999
Pokemon Stadium:
-JP April 30, 1999
-NA February 29, 2000
-EU April 7, 2000
Besides, Pokemon Snap was the first game I had (along with DK64) when I got N64 on Christmas of 1999. I got Pokemon Stadium later, on the day it was released in NA (I specifically remember going the day it was released because when we went the night before, the copies were stacked up behind the counter and I was like  )

Oh gosh, Pokemon Snap. I loved that game. It's too bad I lost it.

I also seem to recall the first Stadium preceding Snap. Maybe Wikipedia have the PAL release dates wrong.
Or maybe I just can't remember.
It seems that north-americans got Snap (http://www.gamefaqs.com/n64/198311-pokemon-snap/data) first, while europeans go Stadium (http://www.gamefaqs.com/n64/198312-pokemon-stadium/data) first, according to GameFAQs.
It also seems there was another Stadium (http://www.gamefaqs.com/n64/574524-pokemon-stadium-japan) first that never took off Japan.

Wow, I never realized that there was another Stadium game in existence at all. And the EU release date for Stadium might be more accurate than the one on Wikipedia (it is Wikipedia after all), but I just remember specifically that Snap came first in NA. I feel like playing it now (either game actually); maybe I will.
Stadium and Stadium 2 are still, in my opinion, the best 3D Pokemon games (although Snap is also a ton of fun and I wish they'd release a new one for Wii, but that's a different type of game anyway). Colosseum, Gale of Darkness, and Battle Revolution don't really compare. The minigames alone make the Stadiums awesome :D

You know, for most of the time, I would play Pokemon Stadium just for the minigames. Forget the battles! It was all about the sushi, Ekans ring toss, and other mini games.

I had to watch this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMSinyx_Ab0) documentary a few weeks ago. Take a look too.
Yeah, the games were pretty entertaining, I remember plaing again and again the one with Sandshrew.

Haha, that one is fun. I think one of my favorite minigames was the Chansey game in Stadium 2, though. Sushi-Go-Round was really funny in Stadium, and to this day the song from the Clefairy game still gets stuck in my head. Sometimes I still have minigame wars with my friends :D
