Distant Worlds

Well, Distant Worlds is going for another big show in Chicago again on June 26th of next year. They'll be performing with the Chicagoland Pops Orchestra and Chorus at Symphony center and they're basically going to do a live version of both of the CD albums (and more) over the course of two concerts, on at 2:30 and another at 7:30.

They've still got the $150 Meet-and-Greet tickets, which is annoying. Personally though, I'd like to know if someone paid to attend both concerts (since they will have different set lists) if they could get on the Meet-and-Greet list. After all, most of the ground-level seats are $75 and 75x2=150. For that matter, does a Meet-and-Greet ticket cover both concerts?

I'm personally more interested in the London 2011 date at the Royal Albert Hall... Kinda disappointed that they got in there before VGL did, but I'll take anything that comes my way!

Believe me, I intend to. If two $75 tickets works as a Meet-and-Greet (or one of those tickets covers both concerts), I just might splurge.

Yeah, that's the typical price of a Meet-and-Greet ticket for Distant Worlds. After getting it for free at VGL, it really doesn't seem worth it.

I got my email response back. There are two Meet-and-Greets (one after each concert), you must buy a $150 ticket to attend and people with two $75 tickets are not permitted. Lame.

It ISN'T worth it. My VGL tickets were only $45, so I can't imagine paying that much more for the meet and greet. :eek:

Yeah, I think the most I've payed for a ticket to a concert is the ~$60 tickets for the LotR live orchestra-to-film events (which are epic). Granted, I don't really go to a whole lot of concerts, but the Distant Worlds meet-and-greet tickets seem pretty insane to me. Even the normal tickets are expensive enough as it is.

for anyone that feels like spending on the meet-and-greet tickets, go for it.
still, anytime you get a show like VGL or Distant Worlds in your town, consider yourself lucky.:cool:

The price for Distant Worlds in London I think are fare. But the meet and greet which is £125 ($200) is disgusting! Is it such hard work to meet fans that they gotta charge that much??

VGL meet there fans FOR FREE!

Anyway, I'm happy enough with my DW ticket. Paid £45 which ain't to bad i suppose.

So, I finally got a copy of the Distant Worlds soundtrack (I don't know why I never bothered sooner), and I have to say that even though a lot of the pieces are the common ones, I really like the arrangements on many of them. Some of my favorites are "Opening/Bombing Mission" and "Vamo' alla Flamenco" (even if I do keep seeing "Kweh." appear in my mind while listening to it :rolleyes:)
I feel as though some of the pieces are played too slowly for too long, even if the arrangements are nice ("Love Grows" comes to mind), but overall I love the CD.
Unfortunately, I realized after I bought the CD that the "Returning Home" DVD apparently has a CD with all the same tracks (is that true? And if so, is one a live recording? Oh well...). I'll still probably get the DVD though at some point.

the Returning Home DVD comes with the DVD of the concert and the 2 CDs included have all the songs played at the concert (which makes them all live, but it was tough getting the CDs out). I enjoyed the songs they picked for FFXIV (even if the game wasn't good), and Clash on the Big Bridge was an awesome ending song.
My personal picks are:

-Those Who Fight (great piano solo)
-March of the Dreadnoughts (another great piano solo)
-Saber's Edge
-Primal Judgement

by the way, if you copy the CDs to your computer using Windows Media Player, the titles of the tracks appear in Japanese (at least it did for me). just thought that was kind of cool :cool:

I hesitate to say Clash on the Big Bridge is worth the price on its own, but it's a definite temptation.

the Returning Home DVD comes with the DVD of the concert and the 2 CDs included have all the songs played at the concert (which makes them all live, but it was tough getting the CDs out).

Well, at least the CDs seem to be live recordings so it would still technically be "different" from the regular Distant Worlds CD, even if they're the same pieces of music (is that right?). Either way, I'm still considering getting the DVD at some point.

Oh, it should be great, especially if you love the music (I definitely enjoyed the LA showing of Distant Worlds)!

My god that was amazing. There are few things that I would consider to be magical, but that was definitely one of them.

Particular highlights were Liberi Fatali at the beginning, which was unbelievable, Dancing Mad, which was complemented by the incredible Albert Hall pipe organ which has to be heard to be believed, the opera Draco and Maria, which is always sublime to listen to, and the vocal version of Eyes on Me, which from what we were told is only the second time that arrangement has been performed as part of Distant Worlds.

Of course everything else was amazing as well, but those four are my particular favourites, although they're closely followed by Bombing Mission, Clash on the Big Bridge, the Chocobo Medley (supplemented this time with the new FF14 arrangement), FF1-3 Medley, Force Your Way (with the brilliant scene from Dollet with the dog), Prelude, J-E-N-O-V-A, One Winged Angel and the battle Victory Theme!

Overall an amazing show, and I cannot wait for next year to roll around when they return to the Albert Hall!!

Agreed, tonight was absolutely amazing! Can't believe I finally got to see Nobuo with my own eyes :D

Hm, maybe if they come around the NYC area again I'll think about going. In the meantime, I REALLY hope that the "TBA" VGL concert listed for NYC next year comes true :D
Also turns out that the RotK live to film concert is next year instead of this year (Hmm... I bet that doesn't have anything to do with The Hobbit being released at the same time :rolleyes:). So I'll probably be getting tickets to that as well.
