I payed my usual visit to Bob's and I stumbled across this.
Apparently Bayer, a renoun pharmaceutic, developed a blood glucose meter for Nintendo DS.

The idea is to promote a better gucose value reading to kids with diabetes. Each time they make a reading, they gather points and the can unlock new levels on the Knock 'Em Downs game.

However, I fear that this will also promote unecessary glucose tests.
For each reading you have make a micro-incision in the epidermis in the sides of the distal phalanges or in the epidermis of the upper part of the forearm.
A regular planned test schedual allows each micro-incision zone to have time enough to recover from the micro-trauma, but if you give a kid a game that for every time they bleed, they get closer to an extra, they will almost certain prick their skin more than required.

As my grandmother used to say, kids aren't dummies nor donkeys. They need not need to be hit nor persuaded with a reward to understant. You can talk to them and make them understand.
In this case, they just need to understand the importance of a regular basis meter reading and, of course, insulin administration as to be explain the medical complications in not doing so.
