What video game villain do you think deserves more respect, acknowledgment, and fans from the gaming community? Why?

Definitely Kefka from Final Fantasy 6. One of the best video game villains of all time, sadly overshadowed by Sephiroth, is probably one of the few villains that remains terrifying when is 16-bit sprite, though isn't quite as scary as a more realistic animation. How many other villains poison an entire castle just because they were in the way and then go onto become a god, completely changing the face of the planet in the process?

Definitely one in need for further acknowledgment.

While he gets plenty of respect from people who have played Xenosaga, they're a relatively small portion of the general gaming populace, so I point to the horrifyingly, delightfully insane Albedo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95mwIi8lVHQ).

Agreed 100 percent!

His laughter haunts me till this very day!

Plus, Dancing Mad is a far better theme than one winged angel anyday! :D

Besides, Kefka, Sephiroth, to be original. The guy's twisted sense of cosmic justice, by is mad vision of a world based on his image is brilliant.

Then King Bohan from Heavenly Sword. He may be a coward, but he is extremelly well characterized. So is Flying Fox. That game deserves the intended sequel!

Kane from Command & Conquer, You've got to love that guy. Founder of the Brotherhood of Nod, appearing as a dark messiah, suggested to be Cain himself.

Though he's from the movie universe, the amount of SW games make a reference to him as a must. The one, the only, the superstar Darth Vader. xD

Last, but not least, GlaDoS.

I think Alex from the Golden Sun series deserves a little more recognition (maybe partially because I think the series itself deserves more recognition). I spent a lot of time wondering whether or not he was good or bad. Yeah, he was always an arrogant jerk, but you don't really learn about what exactly he's trying to do until the end of the second game. Then it just ends on a cliffhanger. Maybe in the next game, which I'm assuming will let us know what happened to him, he'll be an even more important villain.

Right back at you! If there was a villain in Xenosaga I feared running into was Albedo. Not only he was crazy, but the fights were difficult and he was made everything WAY more difficult throughout the game.

And excellent choice of video! (I praise the actor who did his voice on getting his insanity, especially in his laughter).

This. Exactly.

Other than Kefka, I can't think of any other overshadowed villains.

They didn't released the first Xenosaga game in Europe, which avoided me of approaching the series... They should have released the first game along with the second one, that would have atracted more public.

Yeah, unfortunately the only Xenosaga to get a PAL release was the second one.

And... well...

It sucked anyway.

Third game is awesome though. Well worth an import if you can get the kit for it. Just watch the cutscenes of the second (and maybe the first if you're impatient) on YouTube or something.

I agree. Those were great games and Alex was a very interesting villain. I can't wait for the next game.
