Here's RV with another interesting discussion thread for you all.

Lets all talk about Videogames that you have played, but no one else has.

I'll start.


I've been playing ToeJam & Earl III: Mission To Earth.
The only reason I know this game ever existed, was because I played a demo of it a very long time ago.

It was a good demo too, in fact, my good memory of the demo, made me seek the game out in the first place.

Its an aquired taste, thats for certain, but the game is probably one of my favourites.
Its simple, but its fun, and good for a few hourly sessions.

Its just a shame the game was targeted at the wrong audience, (the "teen" crowd), as it is probably because of the cheesy music and dialogue, and the abomination that is Latisha, that scared off fans of the original two games.

Also because of that, its a bit easy as well, which does detract from the game's charm somewhat, but considering this game was orginally meant for the Dreamcast, it was a good effort by Sega.

A couple of other Xbox games I own could fall into the overlooked category as well.

Kung Fu Chaos is a prime example. Created by the same devs that brought you Heavenly Sword, (a pretty good PS3 game actually), it was a quirky little game, with some decent humour, and a solid engine.

But what I love about the game, is the cinematic effects, the way the stage moves onwards as you play, the minigames,though frustrating, were varied, and replayable.
In fact the game's replayability is its best factor. Even though, the game can be quite easy at times, perfecting each level actually requires quite a lot of work.

Spartan: Total Warrior.

Not 100 percent certain this game has gone unnoticed, but its still a very good game.

Its really hard, and the pace of the game is a bit odd at times, but its a very solid game, that grows on you.

Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks

Its odd that a Mortal Kombat game goes mostly unmentioned by us gamers, and its a shame, because I'd argue this game is one of the best in the series.
Its a spin-off, and admittadely, the single player game is left wanting, but this game was made for co-op. As a co-op game it is a real blast.
Its tough, and really frustrating at points, but playing with a good friend will make it a hilarious romp.

Plus, with a cheat, you can play Mortal Kombat 2 on it as well! XD

Other noteworthy mentions: Darkwatch, Deathrow, Gun Valkyrie, and Metal Arms

Never liked Mortal Kombat. It only gained any notoriety because of red pixels.

Anyway, yeah, I'm always doing this - catching up on little things from years ago. Yakuza, Batallion Wars, the PS2 Ace Combats, etc.

I hate it when people on the Internet say things like, "I'd like to have played . It's a shame I missed it." I always want to smash them in the face with a big sign that says, [I]"THEY STILL EXIST", in the hope that they'd get the message.

EDIT: Also, here's a quality game that not nearly enough people have played: Rockstar Games Presents Table Tennis.

I remember palying back in the days Retro Force for the PS, that was the only game in the genre that grabbed my attention.

I have a ton of games that most people have probably never played (especially for NES). One of my favorite NES games is a game called "Fun House" which is very loosely based on the 80's/90's game show of the same name. It has almost nothing to do with the real show and is not a very well known game, but it's really addicting and can be VERY challenging (I still haven't beaten it, although I try at least once a year and I've gotten to the last level. Come to think of it, I can say that about a lot of NES games... -glares at the first TMNT game-).

Hey, that's not so bad, even though I played Kingdom Hearts pretty soon after it came out, it was not that frequently, and only at friends' houses. I only got myself a ps2 early last year (and finally KH, KH2, and some FF games with it). In one sense, it's a shame I really got into the series so late, but on the other hand it was like playing a brand new game for me!


I don't think I've ever given away or sold any game or system that I've had, so fortunately I don't have to deal as much with the "I miss that game so much..." scenario.

Toonstruck and Sanity: Aiken's Artifact are both amazing games, wildly underrated and pretty much fell under the radar. Being PC games though, unless you can track down a genuine place to buy them, they're pretty much gone (unless you're okay finding somewhere to download them, but the legality of that is between hazy and not so legal...). Even then, if you can get them, trying to get them to work on current hardware and operating systems is an absolute pain.

Worth it though. I'll probably start playing Sanity again sometime soon, if I can track down the disc next time I'm back home.

Aaahh Toonstruck! What a lovely game!

I actually have a copy of this at home, and I highly recommend it.
You'll need Dosbox to get it working, and even then a lot of searching and tweaking is required to get it to work properly.

You could get a copy of it at a decent price on ebay, (its always around, just never noticed).
Its a shame Good Old Games doesn't sell it, as I'd love it to come out as one of their special releases!

A game I feel everyone should at least give a try to is A Witch's Tale. It's an adorably demented game that came out on DS October of 09, I believe. I absolutely love it. I'm working on beating it for the 3rd time now and it's still a little bit as difficult as it was the first time just because every task is interwoven and such... Plus, I sound like a typical girl for this but, you fight with these adorably demented dolls... Yes. Dolls. They're amazing. It's a game anyone with a DS/DSi should check out at least once.

That sounds like a pretty fun game. And about fighting with dolls, just look at Lulu from FFX!

Either you're stuck playing hide and seek, in which case, you need to look in every building and examine all of the grave stones, or you're trying to get to the pumpkin patch, in which case you need something with a giant spring to cross the river and then look for somewhere which mentions gates and numbers to get through the combination lock.

Nah, I was stuck on how to get the cross, and the hosepipe, but I figured it out eventually.

Still, the game is amazing. It kept me going for hours.

Ah yeah, hosepipe had me stumped for a while, until I dropped it and realised all I had to do was wait for the right item to become available... Brilliant game though! The ending, though completely surreal, kinda made sense and actually in the context of the game, is not a bad use of that plot device!

My favorite NES game was Crystalis. I haven't met too many people who have played it, but it has some of the best NES music I've ever heard! The gameplay is like Zelda, but feels more like SNES control than NES. It was challenging, but not too bad. The only thing was that because of the lack of buttons, they made the menu system a little strange, but if you know the controls for it, it is no problem.

By the way, don't get the remake for the GBC. It ruined the difficulty, and destroyed the music!

I have a game called Drakan: The Ancients' Gates for PS2 that I've never heard of anyone else having, that's pretty good. It's almost like Fable in terms of battle system having melee, ranged, and magic attacks. But you also get to ride a dragon, and have it breath fire, which is pretty fun.

For Xbox, I actually have Advent Rising. I haven't beaten it, but I've enjoyed it so far. I did run into some glitches, but other than that, I loved the battle system. Telekinesis is just really fun! And the music was also really good!

Well, I can say that pretty much of all games of the 3DO I had. No one had a 3DO (Actually, has anyone here in the forums owned one?). And some games were pretty good (Gex, Quarantine and Return Fire, to name a few).
