What kind of level attribute do you detest the most?

Examples: My mother HATES ice levels. I don't like levels that do the continuously-moving-forward-camera deal that can kill you; is there an actual term for that?

First off, congrats on having a mother that is a gamer! That is awesome!

Personally, I detest levels/puzzles which require pixel precision, ie you must jump off this exact pixel else you will fall down the chasm and DIE. Those ones really irk me...

Yes. Yes. Yes. I cannot stress this more. Pixel-hunting makes me angry.

Backtracking repetitively in a large area to find something that opens a door or solves a puzzle ect... I don't mind it if its once or twice but when it gets up into double digits I almost stop playing.

what do you guys think of the multiplayer in new super mario bros. for the wii? I find it bothersome sometimes but for the most part it is fun to try and screw your partner(s) up.

I was also never a fan of levels where you have to keep going or a wall (or poisonous water like in DKC 2) crushes or kills your character.

Pixel precision is also frustrating sometimes...especially when you're trying to navigate through a really thick forest of deadly electric seaweed as you rush to dismantle bombs placed in the river before time runs out and you die. Pixel precision plus iffy controls AND a pretty difficult time limit does NOT make a fun combination

You mean like the jungle levels in Rayman where you had to keep moving up the screen, else the place would flood and you'd drown? (I've never played any of the DKC games, so I wouldn't know the comparison ^^)

You know, there are very few things that can make me rage quit a game, but I have to say that very part of that NES game is one of them!

Now the part of games I usually hate is having a level that is out of genre, (i.e. that racing level in Conker, the top-down levels in Contra 3), as its usually badly coded, and frustrating as hell to beat!

(Seriously, that lava chase in Conker took me over a month of rage quits to get past!!)

I hate the "press X to don't die" cliché.

Awww... Thank you. I'll be sure to tell her that. Well, actually she hasn't played much since the Gamecube, but I'm trying to wean her back into more of a gamer with the Wii. If "Super Mario World" is whispered in my house its game on! :p

I've only played with one other partner; I couldn't think of the chaos of playing a level with four players! If it was only for fun then I guess it would be interesting, but to play it seriously like getting the coins and etc would be rather difficult.

What level would that be? I've played DKC, but I'm not too familiar with 2 or 3.

Playing with 4 players on New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii is actually very chaotic. Especially coop. I don't think there's actually enough space on the screen for everyone, because we usually just get in each other's way.

There's one annoying level called Toxic Tower near the end of DKC 2, where you have to climb to the top of the level as this poisonous green water rises. There's another level called Castle Crush (same idea, but with a rising floor) that's a bit annoying but not really so bad. Lava Lagoon is also somewhat tricky (you can turn the boiling lava water stuff into normal water, but you have to swim to the next area before it turns back to lava). And then there's that water level in DKC 3 where the controls are actually reversed!

But besides that, I like DKC 2 and 3 better than the first one, and I think DKC 2 might be the best in the series.

Stages involving water just tend to be annoying in games (@$#%& electric seaweed... one of the main reasons I was never able to beat TMNT for NES). Even the water temples in Zelda games are always the trickiest.
