This game is seriously 100 times more epic than I was expecting it to be. :D Not to mention that the terminus armor and the collector's gun is just awesome.

I'm still waiting for my copy to arrive... I'm hoping it will be in the post when I get home this afternoon, else I'm gonna be sorely disappointed!

Ouch...I would HATE to have to wait for an awesome game like this.

Well... I'm waiting for the game to drop a bit in price before I purchase it.... But it will be on Steam, so at least I get it right away (or however long it takes to download the content).
Besides, I need to replay the original game with a better save file.

That could take a year...awesome games never go down in price quick. I'd buy it now if I were you if you could, because you really don't wan't to wait on this one. Too awesome to wait for it if you ask me. :p

So it turns out when my Dad preordered it just after christmas, the payment bounced and he only discovered it today, after it was released and so only reordered it today. So I'm probably gonna get it beginning of next week, but without the preorder goodies... Not impressed...

No worries Myrph, people ALWAYS sell the preorder goodies on ebay. :p If you ordered at gamestop, they actually put all the download codes inside the box, so you should get them anyway. xP Did you order for PC or 360?

I don't think there are Gamestops where Myrph lives. :p
Right now, I just don't have the time to sink into an RPG. I will get it, though, when time does free up. Perhaps there might be a slight discount sometime between now and then.

I think I saw a few gamestops when I was in London 2 years ago...:p
I hear you when you say no time for ME2. I kind of don't have time either, but the problem is I play it anyway and wonder why I'm always tired in the first class of the day. xD

I got most of the pre-order dlc, (microsoft accidentally released it as free a few days ago, (probably fixed that by now)), but don't plan on buying the game for a while.
I still really wanted the collectors edition, can't find a copy..
Guess I'll wait till the game gets cheaper.

Well, I just beat ME2 yesterday. I won't spoil anything, but the ending wasn't as epic as I hoped it would be. T_T
Myrph

Well, so long as you aren't going to base your entire views of the game on your experience with the ending, that's okay. To quote a guy from another forum
If you're playing a game for the ending: You're doing it wrong.
Out of however many crew members you had at the end, how many did you manage to get to survive through the ending? Just out of curiosity, gives me something to aim for ;p

What's wrong with playing a game to the end? Unless you're saying that playing a game just for the ending is bad, in which case I agree.
Myrph

Playing a game to the end, and enjoying the story, the landscapes, the music etc. along the way is great! Playing a game, but only doing it for a spectacular ending scene and everything on the way is just a means to get to the endgame is bad.

Maybe it was just the way you played it; perhaps if you made a few different changes you might have gotten an epic ending? -says one who has no idea and hasn't finished the first one yet.-

You haven't even beaten the first game yet? That seriously needs to be fixed. xD Because that game DOES have an epic ending. :p

I've had a hard time getting the game out of my disc tray since the day it came out. I thought the last mission was done well, and the last thing you see on the screen before the credits was the definition of epic.
When's the third one come out? :D

Not quick enough. :p I really should stop plowing through games the week after they come out. xD

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. (Although perhaps applying that phrase to this situation may be a bit...off....)

Wait for a badass game like ME2? Are you crazy? xD I think I would have lasted a week before hunting ebay for it. :p

That's too bad. I've lasted this long with no problems. Yet. :p

I would say the same thing, except that my problem is that I play ME2 all day after school instead of working on schoolwork or practicing my instrument. :p

I don't know if anyone here can answer this, but I'll ask anyways; is it really necessary to level up your character in ME 1 to have better game play in ME 2? I've seen if your character is at a really high level at ME 1 you get extra stuff in ME 2.
zippy
02-21-2010, 04:08 AM
I'd say level up your ME1 character first, especially if you are going to play ME2 on veteran difficulty. Trust me, you are going to want EVERY bonus you can get at that difficulty level. :p

Let's remember that I like to have fun while playing a game; not getting my buttock kicked right and left! Not to say I only play games on easy; I always start at normal in games.

Even so, it's still probably a good idea to level up your ME1 character first. Choices you make in that game affect your game in ME2, especially depending on what you did with the council and teammate on Virmire.

Trust me I know, but I'm not sure how much effort I should put into leveling up for ME1 because I want to play ME2 as soon as possible; however, I don't want this to compromise the fun of the game by rushing to play the next one.

Well, this may not play any factor in your case, but to me, even though I've played ME1 before, I'm going to go through the first game again (and really focus on being a completionist) before I tackle ME2.

That's really gonna take a long time; depending over how complete you're talking about.

Yeah, I know. I'm thinking visiting all the worlds, getting all of the weapons, completing as many side quests as possible, etc. Should be a good 30+ hours. :)

Took me 15 hours, give or take. The only things I didn't do were the League medallions, Matriarch writings, etc. All the actual side quests and things were done though. The character did start the playthrough at level 58, and was a soldier with top gear, which helped significantly.
Also, new DLC scheduled for late March has the Hammerhead (hovertank successor to the Mako), so you could probably wait for that. There's also another character coming through DLC at some point.

With a non-60 ME1 character imported to ME2 you get:
-to start at level 3
-200k credits (might be 100k, but I'm pretty sure it's 200)
-another 100k if that character had enough for the Rich Achievement in ME1
-50k of each mineral, which are used for upgrades
With a 60 ME1 character into ME2:
-start at level 5
-another 50k credits on top of the other bonuses
-another 10k of every mineral

Well... I'm at least level 23, shock trooper, and I've yet done a second plot mission; BTW where can I buy human armor that protects from environmental hazards? I try to do as much as I can before going to new plots.
Malagron

AFAIK, there's no armor that specifically protects environmental hazards. The higher level your armor is and the higher level you are allows you to stay outside longer.

The armor in question is made by Devlon Industries; see here (http://masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Devlon_Industries)
I can find alien armor, but I haven't come across any human armor of this type.
I was under the impression is you get out of the mako someone would eventually die if you or your members weren't wearing the armor; however if one member is wearing it then nothing will happen.
I'm not to certain of this though because I've never lost my barrier in a bad environment; so maybe if I lost that then my health bar would go down.... maybe?

Basically if you traverse a planet with an environmental hazard outside the Mako, you can only spend a certain amount of time in the hazard before you start losing hit points. To quote the website you just linked, wearing that armour:
will negate the timer on environments with Level 1 environmental hazards and slow down the timer on Level 2.
Again, whether you need one for each member of your party or if one will cover the entire team, I can't remember, but that's the basic idea of it.

After starting another new ME2 game, and actually looking at the all the little blurbs the bonuses are:
100k credits for a Rich ME1 character
50k credits for a level 60 ME1 character
10k of each mineral for a level 60 ME1 character.
You get the other 200k credits from starting a new character after you have beaten ME2 with an imported ME1 character, or ME2 twice. The 50k of each mineral also comes from the same thing. These "Long Service" bonuses are applied to any and all of your new games, regardless of being imported from ME1, ME2, or not at all. I beat the game the day after release, so I kinda forgot you didn't just start with all that stuff.
