Something a little different - your thoughts

Hi all,

I would like to share something to you all. As you know I love Video Games Live and I am waiting for it to come to Australia soon, and I was thinking with all the great music they play, what do you think if they also played Anime Music Titles?
I know its for games, but I just thought it would be interesting if they also came up with something like that as well. Its only a thought.

I would like to to hear what others you think of it too.
Its only a suggestion.

For VGL I don't think it would be a very good idea. And that extends beyond just the fact it's a show on videogames (though that is a major factor).

Firstly, the majority of anime themes are pop songs of some description, and would stick out like a sore thumb among the bombastic orchestral productions performed at VGL.

Then bear in mind that the show's focus is primarily on Western-composed music, and on mostly Western-developed games (presumably due to Tommy and Jack's background and contacts). While the anime and gaming audiences certainly significantly overlap, that overlap is at its least pronounced in the case of fanbases for games such as God of War or Halo. Basically, while a great deal of the audience would be pleased, it is likely that just as many would find anime representation an irritation.

And finally, consider the volume of videogame suggestions for the VGL set-list. They have enough trouble putting on a show that caters for them.

Besides which, what's wrong with having a separate anime concert?

I'm with Swish; it just doesn't make any sense for VGL.

However, there is another international concert series (though far smaller in comparison to VGL) that pulls music from both games and anime, called Eminence. Their next big concert is set for this weekend in Sydney, Australia. You can see what they've done over at their website (http://www.eminenceonline.com).

I understand where you're coming from, as there is a lot of crossover between anime and video games. But, the scenes are both so huge that it would make much better sense to have separate concerts for each genre of music.

Having said that, it would be pretty amazing if there was such a thing! :)
